Summer Water

Summer is coming in HOT, and so is COVID, Buttt its still Rose’ Season!!!!

Rose’ is the oldest type of wine originating from France.  It is made from the skins of red grapes. The primary taste of Rose’ wine is made of red fruits, flowers, citrus and melons. Rose’ is definitely a summer time staple.   Here are a few of my favorite brands.

 Veuve Clicquot Rose’ Champagne

This brand of champagne is so iconic it goes without saying it has a superior taste, with the perfect amount of bubbles (not to dry not to sweet). It is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  This is the first known blended Rose’ Champagne by Madame Clicquot herself. This Rose’ Champagne is on the expensive side, but if Ms. Rona ruined any of your beach travel plans, your wedding, graduation, etc. I say— treat yourself.

Price: $65

ABV:12.5%

JNSQ Rose’ CRU

This Rose’ wine is described as “summer in a glass”. I was recently introduced to this brand while sitting pool side and it definitely lives up to its description.   This California Rose’ is smooth but not too sweet and is derived from the red wine Grenache.  It is a little pricey, but remember we are treating ourselves this summer. This is definitely a bottle you save and turn into bar décor.

Price: $25-$30

ABV: 12.5%

BABE with bubbles

I know— canned wine? However, do not sleep on this sparkling Rose’ in a can.  Two of the 350ml cans are equivalent to one bottle of wine. The taste is typical for a sparkling Rose’, fun and fruity.  This Rose’ is perfect for pool side, picnic, tubing, festivals or any on the go fun.  I was originally sold on this brand by its marketing and branding.  Check them out on Instagram!

Price: $4.99 per can or $13 for a 4 pack

ABV: 12%

Digression

Now this might be my new favorite Rose’ wine. It has a taste so smooth you are liable to finish the bottle without even realizing it’s gone. It is pale in color and has a refreshingly light taste. It is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Digression also gets an A for bottle design and trendy marketing slogans such as #DaretoDigress, and, be a “flamingo in a flock of pigeons”.

Price: $15

ABV: 12.5%

Château Miraval 2017 Rosé (Côtes de Provence)

This is a pretty popular brand that can be found in most stores where wine is sold. It is owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie which obviously adds to its popularity. This a medium bodied Rose’ wine so it’s a little on the drier side. It has hints of melon and other aromatic fruits.

Price: $20

ABV:13%
