Catch Flights Not COVID

I get asked tons of questions about what air travel has been like lately and I will say, EVERYTHING is different. Things are slowly getting back to “normal” or what has become the new normal.

Employee Differences

For employees it starts with a thermal temperature screening before going through security and a wellness check questionnaire before every flight. There are also many new announcements made throughout the flight (essentially begging adults to keep their mask on).

Boarding Process

Flights are no longer boarded by group number. They are now boarded from back to front to create some distance between passengers as they board. Each passenger is handed a sanitizing wipe to clean their individual seat area. The middle seats can now be occupied on certain airlines, so keep that in mind when traveling.

Service

Another notable change to flying is in-flight service. Alcohol and food are not currently sold in the economy cabins. Each passenger is given an “all in one” snack pack which includes a sweet and salty snack and a bottle of water in order to decrease the time spent in the aisle.

Cleanliness

I must admit, the planes have never been cleaner. Every surface is sanitized after each flight and cleaned with an electrostatic machine that kills germs and bacteria. The air on the planes is filtered through HEPA filters which replaces cabin air every 2 to 3 minutes and traps 99.99% of particles.

 WEAR YOUR %$&#@ !*MASK

Wearing a mask and enforcing the mask requirement for passengers has been one of the biggest differences in air travel during the age of corona.  Everyone is eager to get out of town right now and ready to comply with the new rules. However, like with anything else there are a few bad apples. I have seen it all: fake doctor’s notes, fake letters from the Department of Justice, and award winning crying scenes; basically,  any excuse to not wear masks properly.  The company is serious about this policy, so remaining complaint is key to making it to and from your destinations safely.
